Datamine and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) have entered into an agreement, making Datamine a reseller of Sirovision.

Sirovision is a new technology that combines the power of digital photography with advanced mathematics to create value for the Mining industry. Sirovision produces rapid, accurate 3D structural models of mine features using affordable digital cameras.

Sirovision is more than a Spatial Data System; it is a Rock Mass Structure Mapping and Analysis System

Sirovision has been designed to support rapid mapping of mine features with a minimum of expertise in Photogrammetry. Using Sirovision, you can build accurate three-dimensional models from sections as small as 2 square meters up to 40,000 square meters in minutes. Using this system you can also create multiple 3D images in order to build an extended panoramic image.

What is Photogrammetry ?

Photogrammetry has been defined as
"The art, science and technology of obtaining reliable quantitative information about physical objects and the environment throughout the process of recording measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of radiant energy derived from sensor systems."

By taking two digital photographs of the same rock face, from different angles, combined with minimal survey data, a detailed 3D image is generated that is positioned accurately within the local coordinate system of a mine. Sirovision generates data at thousands of 3D points per second. The system provides facilities for accurate mapping and analysis such as characterisation of discontinuity orientation patterns and measurement of discontinuity spacing and persistence for use in many areas of mining and civil engineeering.

Structural information is extracted using sophisticated mathematical techniques. The structure and lithology data is added to the geological model, while geotechnical features such as joint frequency, orientation and spacing are incorporated into the geotechnical model. Using these models geologists and engineers can provide informed instructions to production crews about ore/waste delineation, make better decisions about safety, enable the latest geology and geotechnical data to be used in mine design

The end result of this collaborative system is higher productivity and improved head grades.

* The 3D Imaging system quickly produces accurate, detailed three-dimensional images of mine features such as benches, pit walls and highwalls using affordable digital cameras.
* Creating 3D images takes minutes. Processing is done on standard PCs and requires no specialist expertise.
* Geologists, Civil Engineers and Mining Engineers can use the 3D data to obtain structural data covering any selected segment of the rock mass.
* The analysis system uses the three-dimensional images of a surface to provide a powerful tool for geologists and geotechnical engineers. The characteristics of joint sets can be determined quickly and accurately. The system provides a permanent digital record.

Sirovision lowers the time and cost barriers to building detailed geological and geotechnical models and maps based on data collection that is safe, cheap, fast and unbiased. Models that would normally be expensive, slow and labour-intensive to create can now be prepared in minutes.

Analysis of Lithology and Mineralogy * High-definition 3D image provides an ideal perspective from which to achieve accurate visual interpretation of Lithology.
* Sirovision uses Visual Segmentation Techniques to provide an information-rich guide to the underlying mineralogy.
* Sirovision also gives an indication of the surface area of the banding against the surface area of the 3D image.
* Structural Analysis Planes and traces can be analysed in situ, giving immediate indication of Dip, Dip Direction and in the case of planes, surface volumes. * Structural Analysis of Dip & Dip Direction can be displayed using Datamine's Sirovision Visualisation Tools overlaid on to the actual 3D image - the level of information that can be derived from these presentations is astounding.
